“BIA” stands for Board of Immigration Appeals. It is part of the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review, and is the appellate-level court for the immigration court system.
· What is BIA Recognition and Accreditation?
Obtaining Recognition and Accreditation allows non-lawyers to represent clients before US immigration agencies, including USCIS, ICE, and the Immigration Courts. BIA Accreditation is for individual staff of BIA Recognized organizations. Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta is in the process of becoming a BIA Recognized nonprofit organization.
