A little over a year ago, 3-year-old Allison Liao from Queens, NY was hit and killed while walking with her grandmother in a crosswalk, with the right of way. According to Gothamist, the driver, Ahmad Abu-Zayedeh, ended up "...running over Allison's body with his front wheel, and head with his rear wheel. Allison died at New York Hospital Queens" (see article link below). The driver has since NOT been charged with a criminal act. He received summonses for failing to exercise due care and failing to yield to a pedestrian. Unfortunately, those summonses were recently voided by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. We are petitioning the parties above to bring justice for Allison Liao and her family and friends by giving appropriate punishment to the driver of this horrible act - not just a slap on the wrist.
PLEASE take a few seconds to sign this petition in order to bring justice to this devastated family and make NYC a safer place to walk.
I started this petition because I am a mom and this could have easily happened to me or any other parent in the city or the world. I want New York City to be safe place for all pedestrians, however it will not be so until reckless drivers who hit pedestrians are held accountable for their actions.
