Medical Interpreter Training Program
The Medical Interpreting program is designed to provide the workforce skills necessary to become a professional medical interpreter or work in the medical field.
The program has two different level classes: Beginner & Advanced Levels: Each course consists of practical instruction of theoretical presentations and practical exercises. The program is 60 hours/ month for each level. The students can either choose to sign up for one or two level classes.
Beginner medical Interpreter course
This course is designed to train basic medical spoken English to meet the needs of doctors' offices, hospitals, emergency rooms, and other medical facilities. Students will study about:
The anatomy of various human body systems and physiology and pathology
The standards of practice the role of various medical providers
Participate group practice sessions to improve interpreting skills
Advanced medical interpreter course
This course is strong focuses on improving interpreting skills in simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation modes. Students will study about:
More procedural awareness
Commonly used drugs
Interpreting skills
Training in cultural and linguistic sensitivity
Ethics and confidentiality training
Skills in professional conduct for various clinical settings
Admission Requirement
Students must be fully bilingual that you are fluent in English and another language
