在这个独立日的周末,会到处有美丽的烟火盛会。你选择哪个活动,准备怎么庆祝这个盛大的节日呢?

FRIDAY

Cabaret: “Straight Up With a Twist: An Evening With Jeff McKerley” travels from Kander & Ebb to Gilbert & Sullivan in song at 7:30 p.m. at The New American Shakespeare Tavern, Atlanta.

Visual art: See work by French artist Maurice Utrillo (1888-1955) in “Utrillo: The Magic of Montmartre” at the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art, Atlanta. On view through Sept. 5.

Music: Groove to the elemental R&B of Earth, Wind & Fire at 8 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta.

Sports plus: It’s the perfect weekend for Publix Friday Night Fireworks at the Atlanta Braves games as the Braves meet the Florida Marlins at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks follow the game and it’s free with a game ticket. Turner Field, Atlanta.

Music: It’s been more than 40 years since they hit the Top 10 with “Double Shot (of My Baby’s Love),” but S.C.’s the Swingin’ Medallions are  still the life of the party. At 7 p.m. at Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, Peachtree City.

Music: Singer, actress and icon Liza Minnelli performs with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. 8 p.m. at Chastain Park Amphitheater, Atlanta.

Comedy: Support your local comedians as Marshall Chiles and Friends take the stage Friday and Saturday at the Laughing Skull Lounge,  Atlanta.

Families: 18 species and nearly 100 live geckos are on view at “Geckos: Tails to Toepads.” The exhibition continues through Sept. 6 at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Atlanta.

Stage: Visit the funny folks in the Texas town of “Greater Tuna” as Theater in the Square in Marietta performs the popular comedy. The show continues through July 18.

SATURDAY

Music: Phish jams for the faithful at 7:30 p.m. July 3 and 4 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, Alpharetta.

Holiday: The Avondale Estates 4th of July Celebration begins with a 10 a.m. parade down Clarendon Avenue and concludes with fireworks at Lake Avondale.


Holiday: City of Kennesaw’s Summer Concert Series continues with Bruce In The USA, a Bruce Springsteen tribute, and some Fourth of July fireworks. The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot, Kennesaw

Holiday: Stone Mountain Park’s 43rd annual Fantastic Fourth Celebration combines a lasershow and fireworks are free. July 3-5. Vehicle entry to the park is $10 for a one-day permit.

Holiday: Marietta’s Fourth in the Park gets under way with a 10 a.m. parade which begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and travels west on Roswell Street, north on E. Park Square past Glover Park and the Square, down Cherokee Street and ends at North Marietta Parkway. Festival begins in Glover Park following the parade.

Holiday: The Georgia Independence Day Festival and Fireworks begins at 3 p.m. July 3-4 at Nash Farm Park in Hampton.

SUNDAY

Sports: The 2010 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race gets under way at 6:45 a.m., when the wheelchair race starts. The footrace will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the starting line near Lenox Square. The race ends in Piedmont Park.


Holiday: The historic Old Courthouse Square in Decatur is the perfect setting for Fourth of July on the Square. The Pied Piper Parade begins at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. concert with the Callanwolde Concert Band. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Holiday: Conyers Fabulous 4th Festival starts at 5 p.m. in the Georgia International Horse Park,  Conyers.

Holiday: The massive fireworks display is a big crowd pleaser at the Lenox Square Legendary Fourth. Kids activities begin at noon; music at 6 p.m.; fireworks at dusk (about 9:30 p.m.). Lenox Square,  Atlanta.

Holiday: Expect big crowds downtown as folks converge at Centennial Olympic Park’s Fourth of July Celebration. Festival begins at noon; music starts at 5 p.m. with the Smithereens headlining at 8 p.m. Fireworks at about 9:30 p.m.

Music: The free Unplugged in the Park series continues with performances by Ben Deignan and Wesley Cook. 6 p.m. at Park Tavern, Atlanta. 404-249-0001, tavern.parktavern.com.

Music: Sandy Springs’ Concerts by the Springs welcomes the Atlanta Concert Band for a special holiday edition of the series at Heritage Green.
