Most Insurance plans will pay for routing bitewings x-rays once a year and full mouth x-rays every 3-4 years under your preventive care policy. You know that insurance companies usually pay based on minimum standards to save money. So once a year bitewings is really a good idea so that your dentist can discover any minor issues early. If your dentist discovers any oral health issue, he/she may require more x-rays to diagnose the problem. If you are concerned about exposure of radiation, here is the link from American Dental Association http://www.ada.org/2760.aspx . Remember, if you want to pay less for your dental bills in the long run, you should brush/floss your teeth really well. Visit your dentist at least twice a year (4 times if you have gum disease) for preventive care. Fix any decay when they are SMALL. This way, you will have a better chance not have expensive and painful root canal, crown and implant.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
